December 13th Breakfast Seminar and Annual General Meeting
The Ottawa Valley Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) held a breakfast seminar and annual general meeting at the Metropolitain Brasserie on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. The guest speaker was Bill Wong from SAIC Canada, who presented "Innovation in Renewable Technologies and Applications". At the Annual General Meeting fourteen new board members were elected. 2012 Board members and a brief description of the Ottawa Valley Chapter are located here.
The OVC hosted a one day workshop on October 19th in Ottawa on the production of shale gas. The workshop had expert speakers from across Canada addressing varied aspects of shale gas production including; technical, environmental, legal and regulatory questions.
2011 Environmmental Challenge International
Congratulations to student representatives, Michelle Roberge, Michelle Chiasson, Nicole MacDonald and Erqin Zeng for placing second and winning a prize of $4,000 at the 2011 Environmmental Challenge International held during the annual Air & Waste Management Association Conference June 21-24 in Orlando, Florida. The four Carleton environmental engineering students competed with teams across the United States to develop a plan on how to increase the percentage of renewable energy in the United States to 25% by the year 2025.
