1- April 24th Breakfast Seminar - Green Marine - Voluntary Environmental Program for the Canadian and American Marine Industry

The OVC held a breakfast seminar on Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 at 7:45 a.m at the Metropolitain Brasserie. Our guest speaker was Francoise Quintus from Green Marine, a voluntary environmental program for the Canadian and American marine Industry. Francoise presented a summary of Green Marine’s aims to improve the Industry’s environmental performance in areas such as invasive species, air emissions and greenhouse gases, cargo residues, and oily waters among others.

2- March 7th Breakfast Seminar - Climate Change an International Perspective

The OVC held a breakfast seminar on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 at 7:45 a.m at the Metropolitain Brasserie . Our guest speaker was Laurence Blanford director of the Partnerships Division, Climate Change International, Environment Canada who presented "Climate Change - An International Perspective". Laurence provided an overview of how Canada remains an active and constructive player in the international climate change negotiations.

3- SEEDS visit to Orgaworld Ottawa, March 22, 2012.

A group from the Society of Environmental Engineering, Development, management and Science, or SEEDS, the student chapter of the OVC-A&WMA, was invited to Orgaworld’s compost facilities. Orgaworld processes the organic waste that is collected as part of Ottawa’s Green Bin Program. See attached for the highlights of that visit.
