December 16th Breakfast Seminar and AGM

The Ottawa Valley Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) will hold their breakfast seminar and Annual General Meeting on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 7:30 a.m at the Metropolitain Brasserie, 700 Sussex at Rideau (presentation starting at 7:45am).

Our guest speaker will be Giulia Brutesco from the Canadian Fertilizer Institute (CFI), who will present "The role of the Canadian Fertilizer Institute in Policy Development". Giulia Brutesco, is the Director of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs at the Canadian Fertilizer Institute (CFI). She is currently working with CFI members, the Federal and Provincial government on new environmental policies for the Fertilizer industry. Ms. Brutesco is an environmental engineer with a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering from Carleton University and is a licensed engineer in Ontario. Prior to coming to CFI, Giulia was the Environmental Manager at a steel mill in eastern Ontario and also worked with the Canadian Electricity Association on environmental policy and regulations.The event poster is available for download below.

A breakfast buffet is included in the registration cost and will be available before the commencement of the presentation. Following the presentation there will be a question and answer period and an opportunity to network with colleagues. Advanced registration is $25 for A&WMA members and $30 for non-members. Students pay $15 if they are members or $20 if they are non-members. We encourage online registration by clicking here, before December 13th, as it helps us to arrange the venue and anticipate the number of attendees. Immediately following the breakfast seminar the Annual General Meeting of the A&WMA Ottawa Valley Chapter will be held at 9:00 am. All A&WMA members are encouraged to attend. We also welcome any non-members who would like to learn more about the chapter and/or become involved in the work that we do. The AGM will include election of the 2014 Board of Directors at which all attending A&WMA members can vote. Please note that the 2014 OVC Board still has a number of open positions for which nominations are being accepted and we strongly encourage A&WMA members to stand for positions on the Board. The Ottawa Valley Chapter (OVC) of the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is hosting its annual, day-long technical workshop on October 8, 2013 at the Nepean Sailing Club, 3259 Carling Ave., Ottawa. Presentation Overview:

Cathy will provide attendees with an insight on how to be successful in managing community relations. She will discuss common pitfalls, challenges, and “her take” on how to be successful. The presentation will be interactive; please come with all your questions.

About the Speaker:

Cathy has worked for over 25 years with Waste Management of Canada Corporation in numerous positions. For the past 6 years she has been the Community Relations Manager for the Ottawa area. She is also currently an Executive Board Member of the Kanata Chamber of Commerce and a board member for the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre.
